Estimated reading: 6 minutes 352 views

Telegram Integrations: Pure instant messaging — simple, fast, secure, and synced across all your devices. One of the top 5 most downloaded apps in the world with over 1 billion active users.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to integrate Bit Form with Telegram, where Bit Form acts as the trigger and Telegram is the action. Once the integration is complete, a new subscriber will be automatically added to your Telegram list every time someone submits your form.

This beginner-friendly, step-by-step tutorial is designed to help you set up your first automation with ease—enabling you to grow your subscriber base, streamline communication, and manage contacts directly from your WordPress site.

Authorization of Telegram Integrations as Action

To set Telegram as an action in Bit Flows, first open your Bit Flows Dashboard, then either create a new flow or open an existing one. In the Flow Builder, click the plus (+) icon to add an action. From the list of available apps, search for and select Telegram.

After selecting your preferred action, the next step is to choose an event. For example, in this case, we’ve selected the “Send Text Message or a Reply” event.

  • Send Text Message or a Reply
  • Send Poll
  • Send Contact
  • Create Invite Link
  • Revoke Invite Link
  • Ban User
  • Unban User
  • Send Media

Here, you can either select an existing connection if you’ve already created one, or create a new one by simply clicking the “Add connection ” button.

When you click the Add Connection button, you’ll be prompted to enter a name for your connection. Simply type in the name and Value click connect.

To get your Telegram Value/Bot API Key, follow these steps:

  • Open Telegram: Launch the Telegram app on your phone or computer.
  • Find BotFather: In the search bar, type “@BotFather” (without quotes) and initiate a chat with this bot.
  • Create a new bot: Send the command “/newbot” (without quotes) to BotFather.
  • Name your bot: BotFather will ask you for a name for your bot. This is the name users will see when interacting with it. Choose a descriptive and memorable name.
  • Set a username: Next, choose a username for your bot. This must be unique and end with “bot.” Users will use this username to find and interact with your bot.
  • Get your Bot API Key: Once you confirm the username, BotFather will send you a message containing your bot’s access token (also known as Bot API Key). This key is crucial for integrating your bot with other services or programming it with functionalities. Keep it confidential!

Once you have successfully entered your Telegram Bot API Key, click “connect” to proceed.

Let’s add your new Telegram bot to your group or channel!

  • Grab your phone or computer: Open the Telegram app on your preferred device.
  • Find your group/channel: Navigate to the group or channel where you want to add your bot.
  • Search for your bot:
    • Mobile: Tap on the group/channel name at the top of the screen. Then, locate the “Add Member” option (it might be under a menu with three dots (…) or displayed directly). Finally, type your bot’s username (including the “@” symbol) in the search bar and select it.
    • Desktop: Click on the group/channel name at the top. Look for the option to “Add Member” and type your bot’s username in the search bar. Click on its username to select it.

Please kindly note that you are only able to send messages to Telegram groups and channels. Additionally, you must assign administrative privileges to the bot you have created to send messages. Failure to promote the bot as an admin will result in the groups or channels not being displayed on the Bit Integrations chat list.

Once it done back to your integration page and put your Chat Id and Text Message

note-icon-bit-apps  Note

Enter the Chat ID with the prefix 100 here. For example, if your channel ID is -155545555, then the chat ID will be -100155545555 or the username of the target channel (in the format @channelusername or @supergroupusername). If your chatbot has been inactive for a while, it won’t receive your messages. To continue the automation, first send a message from Telegram.

Field Mapping: Here, you’ll see a “Map Fields” section where you need to map your form fields to the matching fields in Telegram. The “Chat ID and Text Message” field is required by Telegram, so make sure to map your form’s Chat ID and Text Messagefield to it. You can also click the “Add Contact Field” button to map additional fields. Additionally, you can enhance your request logic using FlowMathString, and System functions.

Once you’ve finished these settings, you can either click the “Test Run” button to check if the integration is working correctly or simply close the popup to complete the setup.

When you click the Test Run button, the output will be displayed just above it. However, please note that Test Run results are not recorded in the logs.

You also have the option to test the full flow. You can either click “Listen Response” and then run the trigger event (e.g., submit the form), or use existing data to test the integration and make sure everything works correctly.

After completing all the steps, click the “Logs” icon at the top-right corner of the Flow Builder to view your integration logs. Logs help you verify if the trigger and action worked correctly and make it easier to spot and fix any issues.

That’s it! You’ve successfully set up an automation in Bit Flows to connect Bit Form with Telegram. Now, whenever someone submits your form, a new subscriber will be automatically added to your Telegram account.

This integration helps you grow your email list, automate lead nurturing, and streamline your marketing efforts—all with minimal effort. For more help or to explore additional integrations, be sure to check out our comprehensive User Guide.
