Easy Digital Downloads Integration: Easy Digital Downloads helps you build and manage a professional digital store on WordPress with features like one-click purchases, file protection, sales analytics, and customer accounts. It is designed specifically for digital products and services.

Bit Flows is a WordPress automation plugin that allows you to connect different tools and automate tasks without any coding. It helps businesses build powerful workflow automation by connecting apps and moving data between them automatically.

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to automate Easy Digital Downloads with Bit Flows in 7 steps:

  1. Create Integration
  2. Select Easy Digital Downloads as the Trigger app
  3. Add Google Sheets as an Action app
  4. Google Sheets Authorization
  5. Field Mapping
  6. Test the automation
  7. Check the integration log

Step 01: Create a New Integration

First, open your Bit Flows Dashboard, then either create a new flow or open an existing one. In the Flow Builder, first click the plus (+) icon to add a trigger as you wish. In this setup, Easy Digital Downloads serves as the trigger and Google Sheets as the action.

Step 02: Select Easy Digital Downloads as Trigger

From the trigger app list, search for Easy Digital Downloads and select it.

After selecting Easy Digital Downloads, choose the event you want to automate. Now, select your preferred trigger event. In this case, we selected “Order Created.”

  • User purchased a product
  • Product purchased with a discount code
  • User ordered refunded via Stripe gateway
  • User Subscription renewed
  • User License Key Create
  • User License Key Activated
  • User License Key Deactivated
  • User License Key Status Change to Active
  • User License Key Status Change to Inactive
  • User License Key Status Change to Disabled
  • User License Key Status Change to Expired
  • Order Created
  • Order Status Changes
  • License Renewed
  • License Updated

After choosing the event, click the Listen Response button. While the Listen Response button is spinning, submit or create an order from your Easy Digital Downloads plugin. Once the data fetching is completed, close the pop-up.

Step 03: Add Google Sheets as the Action app

Click the plus (+) icon to add an Action. Click on “Set Action” to choose where the events data should go. In this case, we choose Google Sheets as an action.

If you select Google Sheets for the action, as we did, you will see the available events. For example, when you click on Google Sheets, the available events are “Add Row” and “Append or Update Row.”

This means that whenever the trigger event runs, a row of your data will be added to Google Sheets. We selected the Add Row event.

Step 04: Google Sheet Authorization

After choosing the “Add Row” event, you will be prompted to select a connection. Click on the “Add connection” button to create a new connection. You will be required to enter your Client ID and Client Secret from your Google Console app.

Additionally, you can set a connection name to easily identify it for future use. If you are unsure how to obtain these credentials, then follow the Google Sheets integrations guide. Remember, for the same Google account, you won’t need to connect again. Next time, simply select the connection from the drop-down list.

Step 05: Field Mapping

After completing authorization, you’ll find a Field Mapping feature. Here, you can link your Easy Digital Downloads event fields to the appropriate fields in the Google sheet.

For example:

  • Google Sheets A column → customer_first_name
  • Google Sheets B column → ordered_items
  • Google Sheets C column → order_subtotal

Once you’ve finished these settings, you can either click the “Test Run” button to check if the integration is working correctly or simply close the pop-up to complete the setup.

Step 06: Test the Full Flow

After setting up the trigger and actions, you can test your flow to verify if the integration is working correctly. To do this, simply click on Test Flow Once. Then, complete the trigger event, in this case, create a new order in Easy Digital Downloads.

Step 07: Check the Integration Log

After the test, open the Logs section from the top right corner of the flow screen. There, you can verify whether the Trigger and Action worked successfully.

If the log status shows Success, the Easy Digital Downloads trigger and Google Sheets action are working correctly. Now, whenever a new order is created in Easy Digital Downloads, Bit Flows will send the mapped order data to your selected Google Sheet.

You can click Details in the Bit Flows log to review the captured order data, mapped fields, and Google Sheets response.
